- The source is the U.S. Department of Labor's disclosure data: every Labor Condition Application (the first step of an H-1B) and every PERM application (the labor step of an employment green card) it decided. These pages use the FY2026 Q3 file, decisions from October 2025 to June 2026.
- Only certified H-1B applications count, including those the employer withdrew after certification. Other visa classes on the same form (E-3, H-1B1) are left out.
- An application is filed under a legal name. Filings under one name are added up by occupation (the SOC code the employer chose) and by the state of the worksite. A company with several legal entities has a page for each one with 20 filings or more.
- The level is the prevailing wage level the employer filed, I (entry) to IV (fully competent), and “mostly” means the most common one. The wage is what the employer offered, as a yearly amount: the median of each occupation and state, averaged by filings.
What the data can't tell you
- A certified application is not a visa: many never become one, and one person can have several. The counts show where an employer has sponsored, not how many people it sponsored.
- Past filings are no promise of sponsorship for a job today, and the rules have changed since: see H-1B rules now. Ask the recruiter.
- This is not legal advice. For your own case, talk to an immigration attorney.
